Today we took a tour of the ocean town of Klaipėda along with orientation events at LCC. The president of LCC talked to us and we also had a small session on how to speak the Lithuanian language, academics, roommate living, and student life. The tour of the town was obviously the most interesting part. In order to explore the city, we went on a scavenger hunt for certain important locations in the city such as the post office and bus station. The center of the city is about a twenty-five or thirty-minute walk from the school or about a seven-minute bus ride using the city bus. The town is quite nice. As with Vilnius, it consists of an Old Town and New Town. Separating the old and new is a canal like water way where boats can dock and where paddle boats are available for rent.

Old Town in Klaipeda also had cobble stone streets and sidewalks along with quaint old buildings lining each street.

After our multi hour tour and walk we headed to dinner and wrapped the day up with a fun game of volleyball. Today I learned how old things can really be and how small of a time in history I occupy as a person. It really puts into perspective my worries, fears, and stresses. I’m glad I am here and look forward to a fun and exciting semester!
