Flying Across the Pond

I am writing this post from about 39,000 feet up in the air. I have just woken up from a poor two to three hours of sleep on the plane. We have completed five and a half hours of our seven hour journey from Newark New Jersey to Amsterdam in the Netherlands. My flight from Pittsburgh to Newark was a short forty five minutes and had no problems other than a short fifteen minute delay that was easily made up for in the air. However, I was not so lucky on this flight. It encountered a two and a half hour delay. A feeling of fright consumed me only because my planned layover in Amsterdam was two hours and forty minutes. The situation was only exacerbated by a gate change at the extremely busy and crowded Newark airport. As an inexperienced solo traveler, this was quite nerve-racking. However, I had to break out of my habit of always trying to look to someone else to make the decision or give me advise. It was my turn to be my own confident leader. Although it obviously wasn't hard to find the gate or just sit and wait out the delay I was all alone on my journey, so it was a step in the right direction for me. I am now looking at my phone which tells me the time at home, and on my internal clock, is 2:30 am, but the sun is rising; it is quite odd to be honest. However, with the new day's sun I am now able to look and see the beautiful English country side with many squares and rectangles of green and brownish-yellow that mark the many fields of England. I also see what seem to be the white cliffs of Dover England, but a few minutes ago I looked up where Dover is and it seems to be more south than where the plane is flying over, oh well. That's all I have for now, I really hope I make this connecting flight!

The fields of the English Country Side along with the white cliffs

These are both pictures of the English Country Side from my plane. The top picture includes the white cliffs I saw.
